I loved the movie and loved that they took so many lines and scenes directly out of the book. No it's not exactly but they had to fit it all into a 2 hour movie(less w/commercials).
I think they definitely took more from the book than the Samantha movie did. I did wish William would have said something, even just a couple of words like "horse" or "mother" or something. Yes Grandfather died too soon but again they had to make everything fit and it was more timely do have grandfather die when they were already at the plantation.
And even though mother got sick at the end, and it was because of Polly's birth instead of the fever, again they had to make everything fit, and they wanted to make sure the end was happy and what is a happier, more dramatic ending than the ball at the Governers Palace!
I thought it was excellent!!!
What does everyone think now since it's over? Oh and I'm watching it again when they rerun it Sunday!

I thought the movie was so good!! I really liked Samantha's last year, but this one was even better! (I suppose I'm somewhat biased since Lissie is my second favorite girl, though.)
I think Shailene (sp?) did an excellent job playing Felicity. I hope she gets more roles in other movies soon, she really is a great actress to be so young.
All the characters were well played in my opinion, but I was hoping to see more of Elizabeth. I guess they put her in the movie about as much as she was in the books. Both of the girls were so cute playing off each other.
Lissie's family was so sweet, I just loved the mother and Nann! William was so cute, and so was Polly. By the way, does anyone remember if they actually said the baby's name or not? I don't think they did.
Overall, a great movie, and definitely a great family movie! I'm going to buy this one when it comes out next week. (in one week exactly-next Tuesday-it releases. Yay!)
Great job on the movie, AG!!
ETA: The only thing that disappointed me about the movie was that it started out being Lissie's birthday and it didn't show the family celebrating it. I think it would have been neat to at least have Grandfather bringing Posey (sp?) and giving Lissie the guitar and of course have Shailene in that beautiful pink b'day dress! But, I guess they had to make room for all the other stuff too. Plus, they couldn't show Lissie's birthday party without the chocolate set and party treats since they aren't available anymore. Anyway, still a great movie even without all that.

The movie gets: *********** stars from me! I loved it and I, too, understand why some things have to be different than the books. there is the whole time thing and the budget and everything. I loved it and it will definitly be added to my movie collection!

My DD and I loved it. It was a nice movie for a young girl. It will definitely be a part of our DVD collection.

Don't know about ya'll, but here in DC, the first commercial played after the movie was for Colonial Williamsburg

Oh I absolutly loved it! It followed as closely to the books as one could reasonably imagine in less than a 2 hour (with commercials taken out) time span. I must admit the little girl that played Nan was my favorite. She was absolutly the cutest thing.
I'm going to start a Nan Fan Club!!
The movie was over all fantastic I was not disappointed when I walked away, in fact I was dancing about as much after the movie as I was before. Naturally I tapped it so that I could appease my Felicity cravings until the dvd is released

My youngest daughter had to point out the differences between the books and the movie, but overall she and the rest of the family LOVED it! I was SO much better than the Samantha movie! I think all the actors and actresses were perfectly cast and the acting itself was fabulous! Even my husband was in tears in certain parts. If the Felicity movie was that wonderful, I can't wait to see Molly's next year.

I loved the movie, but I too missed the birthday gifts from Gradfather and thought that the "celebration" was really about taking more responsibilty now that Felicity was 10 than about a special day for her. They did run some storylines together, but I thought that they did a good job of it, for the most part, and there really was too much to squeeze into two hours! I would like to see it again, but will probably wait until next Tuesday and buy the movie; I doubt my husband would be too thrilled by me watching it AGAIN on Sunday! Lin

Next year's movie will be Molly? Where did you get this info?
I liked the Samantha movie, but the Felicity movie was even better. The changes didn't really bother me.
